Have your say about the future of rural public transport

Kent County Council (KCC) is looking to find out if there is a better, more sustainable way to provide public transport to the county’s rural communities not currently served by commercial bus operators.

Transport services are essential for some Kent residents as they provide vital links to other services, including healthcare.

To help provide the right transport service at the right price, KCC wants to hear from you. It has launched The Big Conversation, a consultation about rural public transport running from 13 June to 8 August 2018 and is keen to hear about:

  • your use of public transport and the journeys you take,
  • your priorities for a sustainable rural transport service,
  • your thoughts on the three initial ideas that have been developed,
  • any additional information you think needs to be considered when shaping the services for the future.

This is an opportunity for everyone, including parish and town councils, stakeholder organisations and residents across Kent, to share their views and identify potential new and innovative ways of providing transport to rural communities.

Get involved by completing the questionnaire or attending one of the public meetings taking place. In Ashford, the following meetings are taking place:

For the Ashford district, a meeting is taking place at the Homewood School, Tenterden on Tuesday 17 July, 7pm-9pm.

Full details of the consultation, how to complete the questionnaire and a list of public meetings taking place across Kent can be found at  www.kent.gov.uk/bigconversation.
