Transforming health and social care in Kent and Medway

The four clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) in east Kent are working together to transform the local NHS and provide better care for all our patients. Since 2016 we have been engaging with patients, the public and other stakeholders as an important part of developing our plans from the original case for change through to our current proposals.
Towards the end of 2018 the NHS held public listening events and ran a survey to discuss potential options for changing hospital and local care services in east Kent. At these events doctors and other NHS leaders discussed with local people:
- the benefits change could bring
- how services outside hospitals are developing to maximise the care people get locally
- how two options for hospital services might affect people across east Kent
- the next steps towards public consultation.
You can read about some of the improvements already happening in Better health and care for east Kent: You said we did (Oct 2018). This booklet was distributed at the events and set out plans to improve hospital and local care services including potential options to reorganise accident & emergency, specialist inpatient care and other hospital services.
The Sustainable Health Care in East Kent Joint Committee of NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups is leading work on possible changes to hospital services in east Kent and in February 2019 considered reports about the engagement activity and proposals for change.
