Do you have enough repeat medication for the weekend?

NHS 111 received hundreds of calls over Christmas from people who had run out of normal medicines.

This week, local doctors are calling for people to make sure you have what you need for the weekend.

GP practices are open as normal today and tomorrow (Thursday and Friday) and will only be closed for Monday next week, so people are advised to check if they have enough of their normal medicines and speak to your practice if you have run out or are running low.

People are also urged to check the medicines of loved ones, especially those who may need help to order more of their regular prescriptions.

The local NHS is calling for action to try and avoid the same level of calls to NHS 111 for repeat medicines this coming weekend.

Call advisors at NHS 111 can offer urgent help and advice for anyone needing medical attention when their GP practice is closed. They can also direct to the closest, and most appropriate NHS service, for your needs.
