NHS Ashford Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is putting out a plea for help from people with diabetes and who would be interested in reviewing blood glucose testing strips.

The CCG is looking for a small group of patients who are available from 1pm to 5pm on Wednesday 5 November to discuss blood glucose testing strips which are available on prescription.

Volunteers will listen to presentations from a number of companies that provide glucose testing strips and contribute their views so that a recommendation regarding a preferred product can be made to the East Kent Prescribing Group.

People must have experience of testing their glucose levels using home meters and strips.

Dr Mark Davies, CCG lead for diabetes, said: “We believe it is important that people with experience of using testing strips take part in the discussion. It’s an opportunity to really influence decisions being made about testing strips on prescription.

“We want to ensure patients have access to the most appropriate testing strips on the market.”

Reasonable travel expenses to and from the meeting will be reimbursed on request. If you would like to volunteer to take part or for further information, please contact Sheila Brown by calling 01227 791267 or emailing sheila.brown4@nhs.net
