Lay member for governance
Stephen Salt is Ashford CCG’s lay member for governance. He will ensure public funds are used to benefit the population and that appropriate finance, risk and assurance systems are in place.
He had a 35-year career with NatWest bank and was an area manager, responsible for 500 staff in 26 branches. He has been vice chairman and deputy director of the Samaritan’s Folkestone branch and served as a magistrate on the east Kent bench for nine years.
He also served as a member of Kent Probation Board and the Kent Police Authority, chairing the audit and governance committee.
He is an associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and has a diploma in management studies. He moved to Kent in 1991 and is married with two children. In his spare time he enjoys walking his dogs, theatre and watching home matches at Gillingham Football Club.
