Dr Navin Kumta has been a GP at the Willesborough Health Centre, Ashford, since 2005. He has a special interest in respiratory medicine and is informally involved in helping new registrars in general practice to learn how to plan healthcare.
He became involved in commissioning in 2011 when he became a clinical lead for a practice based commissioning group and in charge of children’s, maternity and urgent care. He has been involved in the development of NHS Ashford CCG, the NHS East Kent Federation forum and the Ashford Health and Wellbeing Board.
He studied in India and worked there for a year as a junior doctor before taking additional studies in medicine and intensive care at Medway and Cambridge. He qualified as a GP in 2004.
He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal College of General Practice. He moved to Kent in 2001. He is married with two children. He enjoys spending spare time with his family and the outdoors. His hobbies include history and cooking.
He has taken over as chairman from Dr Roger Pinnock, clinical lead for dermatology and chronic kidney disease, who is retiring from his North Street Surgery.
