The NHS in east Kent is today reminding people about what to do if they are ill over the festive season.

For a minor injury, such as sprain, burn or back injury, people can use one of seven Minor Injury Units (MIUs) without the need to book an appointment. These are listed below.

For a cough, cold, mild fever or other common illness, people can pop into a pharmacy for free advice. There are more than 120 pharmacies in east Kent, details of your nearest one can be found on the Health Help Now website and app – www.healthhelpnow.nhs.uk

And for urgent health problems which are not life-threatening, NHS 111 is standing by ready to take your call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with GP appointments available round the clock, if needed.

A guide to minor injury services is available on East Kent Hospitals’ website at http://www.ekhuft.nhs.uk/patients-and-visitors/services/minor-injuries/

People can also download the Health Help Now and WaitLess apps from Google Play and iPhone app store. Health Help Now will help people find the right service for them, including advice for how to look after yourself. WaitLess combines current waiting times at all minor injury units, with up-to-the-minute travel information to help people decide which MIU to head to.
